Chaverim, today we celebrate Simchat Torah, and at Betar we are always proud of the role our movement plays as a bridge between more religious, less religious, and traditional people!
On this chag, as we celebrate our people's relationship with the most important source of identity we have had for thousands of years, it is always meaningful to remember what our great leader Ze'ev Jabotinsky said about this relationship:
"The Torah is not only our supreme book; it is our spiritual homeland, the mirror of our soul, and the inexhaustible source from which our people have drawn their life force throughout the millennia."
"Our identity was not born in isolation or assimilation. It was born when we learned to read the Torah in our own language and to see the world through the eyes of our prophets."
"We are an ancient people whose history did not begin yesterday and will not end tomorrow. Our roots are in the Tanach, and from it springs our faith in the eternal return to our land."
And to conclude, a quote from our great Menachem Begin:
"The Tanach is our title deed to the Land of Israel. No nation in the world possesses such an ancient, sacred, and indisputable legal document concerning its homeland as we do."
May we, on this special day, reconnect with our identity and our essence as Jews, Zionists, and Betarim!
Tel Chai 🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
